From the despair of QPR to preserving their Championship status just six games later, it has been another emotionally exhausting season for Pompey.
Certainly few among the Fratton faithful wouldn’t have anticipated staying up with two games to spare after that 6-1 hammering at Loftus Road.
Still, John Mousinho has once again overseen survival, steering the Blues into 18th position and collecting one more point than last term.
And here are Neil Allen’s Pompey player ratings for the season…

37. Colby Bishop - 6
(43 games, four goals) Pompey’s leading scorer for the three previous seasons suffered a hugely frustrating campaign and it said plenty about their striking recruitment that there was no alternative during his struggles. Having said that, with this current squad, the Blues are a better team with him playing, irrespective of his scoring issues. Certainly nobody else can match his fight, work-rate and knowhow up front. Nonetheless, it was a poor season for such a talismanic player, netting just four times, of which one came against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

38. Jacob Brown - 5.5
(15 games, 1 goal) A deadline day signing for Pompey when other striking targets couldn’t be concluded, Brown was meant to provide the goals that Mousinho’s team badly needed. In fairness, he was only given five starts, while Pompey’s boss spoke about bringing the Luton man up to fitness after barely playing for the League One side before the loan switch. However, despite plenty of energy and effort, plus a goal in a 2-1 defeat to Swansea, Brown made very little impact. | Local Library
