From the despair of QPR to preserving their Championship status just six games later, it has been another emotionally exhausting season for Pompey.
Certainly few among the Fratton faithful wouldn’t have anticipated staying up with two games to spare after that 6-1 hammering at Loftus Road.
Still, John Mousinho has once again overseen survival, steering the Blues into 18th position and collecting one more point than last term.
And here are Neil Allen’s Pompey player ratings for the season…

33. Callum Lang - 7
(8 games, 2 goals) The calibre of player Pompey have still to effectively replace, yet it has been another injury-ravaged season for the attacker - at Fratton Park as well as new club Preston. Frequent hamstring problems impacted his availability and, with the player also wanting to move, it made sense he was sold for around £2.1m in January. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

34. Thomas Waddingham - 5.5
(7 games, 0 goals) Entered the season in encouraging form with four goals from friendlies and earning strong praise from John Mousinho. However, his year was effectively over by September after tearing his thigh in training, representing yet another blow to the Australian’s Pompey career which has been devastated by injury. Waddingham returned to make substitute appearances at Stoke and Birmingham, but it was a waste of a year for the promising youngster. | ProSportsImages

35. Tayo Singerr - 6
(2 games, 1 goal) It was a lovely moment for the Academy second-year scholar to score on his Pompey debut as a substitute in the Carabao Cup against Reading in August. He later made his Football League bow off the bench at Bristol City, before joining Gosport on loan. Also had a highly-productive loan spell at Moneyfields. Handed his first professional deal by Pompey in January. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages

36. Makenzie Kirk - 5.5
(14 games, 1 goal) Challenged with negotiating the huge leap from the Scottish Championship to the English Championship and the striker, unsurprisingly, found it a struggle at times. A lovely well-taken goal against Coventry in October opened his account, but that was by far his finest moment. Tellingly, with Bishop unable to score, Kirk still couldn’t establish himself in the team ahead of the long-serving striker. Kirk was included in just four squads in the last 17 games and featured once as Mousinho favoured others up front. | Graham Hunt/ProSportsImages
