Anticipation is building at the transfer business which lies ahead this summer, with Rocco Shein’s multi-million pound capture from Fredrikstad FK this week the most paid for a player since the Premier League era.

The impending €5m arrival of Serbian powerhouse Marko Milovanović will leave that move in the shade, however, with a deal in place and personal terms agreed with UD Almeria.

Pompey are also pursuing a Fratton return for League One title winner Abu Kamara, while Plymouth Argyle striker Aribim Pepple is also a consideration.

Segecic has looked on at developments and feels the combination of the relationship of the existing squad, coupled with raising transfer spending is exciting for his team.

He said: ‘It’s massive.

‘I’ve played with a lot of the lads we have here now and I feel I’m starting to link up with them really well.

‘I’m building a connection with them, and obviously the new boys coming in, too, is massive.

‘It’s good to push the players we have now and push us all to be better - and better as a team.

‘It’s massive to see where we’re moving forward - it’s good for us as a football club.’

Pompey fans are assembling their dream Pompey line-ups for next season, with one scenario being Milovanović leading the line with Kamara on the right wing, Segecic in the No10 position and fit-again Murphy on the left.

The existing duo showed their potential when linking up impressively at the end of last season, with Murphy an effective second-half substitute as the former Sydney FC man grabbed his maiden Championship hat-trick at Stoke City.

Segecic explained he’s always felt an understanding with Murphy, which is good news for Pompey moving forward.

He added: ‘As soon as I came here I think I linked up well with Josh, we linked up really well from our first week in training.

‘I think you saw how dangerous we were when we played together, especially me and him free roaming.

‘We were just enjoying football in the final third, that’s when you’re at your most dangerous when you’re just enjoying your football in that final third with a bit of freedom.

‘You’re still operating within the structure but still having fun. When you do that, that’s when you’ll get your most creative players scoring and assisting with goals.

‘It’s good to see him coming back, hopefully we can see more of us linking up this season.’
