Pompey are set to shift their attention away from Tyrese Shade on deadline day.

The News understands the Blues are ready to look elsewhere to bolster their attacking resources, after eyeing the Burton Albion man.

That’s as the club head into a frantic last day of recruitment activity ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

The future of Adrian Segečić remains a live issue with Birmingham City, Wrexham and European interest, though Mousinho expects the attacker to stay put.

A full-back is also sought, with Pompey looking likely to invest in an attacker and potentially add loans.

In terms of Shade, there appears to be no common ground on a fee between the Blues and the attacker’s employers. Burton value the 26-year-old north of £2m, with Pompey seeing better value elsewhere.

It remains to be seen if that impasse can be broken today, with Pompey conscious of travelling down a potential transfer dead-end.

Mousinho has spoken of adding three new players, but feels outgoings will impact arrivals.

He told The News: ‘There’s still a bit of movement and variation in the squad, it (the number of arrivals) probably depends on the outs.

‘When I talk about the outs, that’s away from what might happen with Segs.

‘We have to be aware of the squad numbers and the budgetary implications.

‘We’ve got flexibility (on loans), but we’re not going to suddenly take five loans - but we could end up with three or four.’

Mousinho has updated on the situation over exits for a host of his players, as he indicated deregistering those fringe figures still around tomorrow is on the cards.

Mousinho added: ‘I think there’s a good possibility Jo (Bursik) goes out, but it’s been left with the football department and executive. I think it would be good if we could get it sorted.

‘It’s an interesting one with Harvey (Blair), because he came on at the weekend.

‘We’re being flexible with that situation because of his involvement in the first team, so I don’t know with Harv.

‘We’re hopeful with Luke (Le Roux finding a club) but there’s nothing concrete yet. I don’t know why sides leave it so late, but we might do with a couple of incomings as well.

‘But that is less to do with us and more to do what’s available - that is players being kept in by parent clubs a lot of the time.

‘So I don’t know with Luke, but hopefully we can get him something.

‘There are windows in other leagues Jacob (Farrell) could go to (which stay open), it would be nice to get Jacob some game time.

‘There’s always that possibility, but that is something I was hoping would be sorted earlier in the summer.

‘If opportunities come up, we take players and players can’t be registered, I think we’re going to have to do it.’
