And Blues supporters don’t have long to wait before trying their luck in getting one, with tickets being made available from 10am on Tuesday morning.

With the National League side’s SMH Group Stadium boasting a capacity of 10,600, Pompey appear to be getting more than the 15 per cent that’s traditionally handed to visiting teams on Cup match days.

But that doesn’t mean that supply will out-do demand, with the Fratton faithful likely to snap up availability for a match that will see them reunited with their 2016-17 League Two title-winning manager Paul Cook.

Indeed, if Pompey’s next two away dates are anything to go by – Tuesday night’s game against Cambridge United and Saturday’s trip to Reading – then there’s a real possibility many supporters will have to make do with watching the game on Sunday, November 5, live on ITV after it was picked for TV coverage.

Tickets for both matches at the Abbey and Madejski stadiums were quickly purchased by Blues supporters who are keen to play their role in the current push for League One promotion. That’s despite the U’s game being a midweek road trip and the Royals reserving just under 3,000 seats in their away section.

Like all away games this season, the Chesterfield Cup tie will abide by the new loyalty points scheme that was introduced at the start of this season. That means fans with 56-plus points will get the first chance to secure their entry at 10am on Tuesday. They will then be followed by those with the 40-plus loyalty points (1pm), 32-plus points (4pm) and 18-plus points (10am on Wednesday, October 25).

If any tickets remain, then they will go on general sale at 1pm on Wednesday. Tickets are priced at £20 (adult), £16 (senior), £13 (young person) and £9 (junior).

Cook’s Spireites are currently top of the National League. Their game at home to Gateshead was called off on Saturday because of Storm Babet.
