Pompey supporters with 56 loyalty points were given priority status in the queue, with further windows of opportunity for other fans set out accordingly.

But a glitch meant the Fratton Park outfit could not sell any tickets to those who turned up in person at their Anson Road ticket office or anyone who wished to buy their match-day entry over the phone.

A 12.15pm an update from the club revealed they had ‘partially resolved the IT issues experienced this morning’, with the Blues now able to facilitate in-person sales, in addition to the continuation of online purchases.

However, the statement added: ‘Unfortunately, the club phone lines are still non-operational and, therefore, we cannot facilitate sales over the phone’.

It continued: ‘As such, we encourage supporters to book tickets via their eticketing account or in person from the Anson Road ticket office.

Portsmouth Football Club apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate the understanding supporters have shown throughout the morning.’

Pompey have subsequently taken the details of those who turned up in person on Tuesday morning and will contact them to complete their purchases.

Meanwhile, despite the difficulties encountered, the Blues plan to retain the on-sale windows previously set out.

That means those fans with 40-plus loyalty points can buy their tickets from 1pm, a 4pm window will be made available for those supporters with 32-plus points, while anyone with 18-plus points can join the bid to make the trip to Chesterfield from 10am on Wednesday.

If any tickets remain, then they will go on general sale at 1pm on Wednesday. Tickets are priced at £20 (adult), £16 (senior), £13 (young person) and £9 (junior).
