The winger is part of a 22-man set-up that will meet up in Belfast for a five-day training squad during the upcoming international break.

It's the start of Northern Ireland’s preparations ahead of their qualifying campaign for the European Championships in 2023.

Teggart is a third-year scholar at Pompey, having arrived at Cliftonville for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2018.

The 19-year-old has made two appearances for the Blues, both arriving in the Papa John's Trophy.

During the first half of this season, he spent time on loan at Gosport Borough before the Southern League campaign was shut down amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Teggart's now garnering first-team experience back at Cliftonville in his native Ulster, although he was left out of the match-day squad in the Reds’ goalless draw against Larne in the Irish Premiership on Saturday.

Reacting to his international call-up, the teenager wrote on Twitter: ‘First u21s call up, looking forward to it.’

Pompey have a key decision to make when it comes to Teggart's future this summer.

The wide man is out of contract at the end of June and the Blues have to weigh up whether to offer him pro terms or release him.

Pompey have similar choices to make with fellow third-year scholars Gerard Storey, Alfie Stanley and Harry Kavanagh.

Storey, also from Northern Ireland, is on loan at Carrick Rangers. He's been regularly coming off the bench in Rangers' bid to avoid relegation from the top flight.

Meanwhile, Stanley and Kavanagh are regularly training with Pompey’s first team at their Hilsea base.

They both featured for the reserves in a 2-1 victory over Luton under-21s earlier this month.
