Relegation rivals have £500,000 bid rejected for reported ex-Portsmouth target as Norwich City rule out West Ham move

The latest transfer headlines involving Pompey’s Championship rivals.

The January window is beginning to heat up at Fratton Park as John Mousinho looks to strengthen for the second half of the season.

After confirming the arrival of Luton Town winger Millenic Alli on loan for the remainder of the campaign on Wednesday, the Blues are once again delving back into the market.

Reports elsewhere are claiming the 30-year-old is set to undergo a medical before completing a £500,000 move to the south coast.

As business ramps up at PO4, gossip and speculation is ramping up across the Championship with the clock ticking towards the February 2 deadline.

Here are the latest transfer headlines involving the Blues’ second-tier rivals.

Oxford eye former Pompey target

It’s been a frantic start to the month with Oxford United, who have been busy in the transfer window as well as in the managerial market.

The U’s, who currently sit three points below Pompey in 23rd, recently appointed Matt Bloomfield as head coach, with the ex-Luton Town boss replacing Gary Rowett.

After a disappointing start to the campaign at the Kassam Stadium, there have already been a number of incomings, with Jamie Donley arriving on loan from Spurs, while ex-Blues midfielder Myles Peart-Harris sealed a permanent switch.

The 23-year-old was also joined by fellow Brentford team-mate Yunus Kodak, who made the move from the Gtech Community Stadium on loan for the remainder of the season.

Oxford aren’t done there, however, with Bloomfield still keen to reinforce his engine room before deadline day.

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke has revealed the U’s have had a £500,000 bid rejected for Reading talent Charlie Savage.

After another impressive season at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, the midfielder has scored two goals and registered one assist in 24 League One appearances to date.

The Royals are said to have turned down a six-figure bid for their star talent, who has 18 months remaining on his current terms, as Leam Richardson’s side bid for promotion.

No Norwich swoop for West Ham midfielder

Norwich City have turned their attention away from Andy Irving, according to reports.

The Canaries were tipped with a swoop for the West Ham midfielder earlier in the month, but he is a player who is not of interest to Phillipe Clement.

The Pink-Un have revealed the 25-year-old will not be making the move for the midfielder, but will target the loan market to improve the squad in the window.

Norwich sit one point and one place below Pompey in the standings, having picked up 24 points from their first 26 games.

Ipswich eye West Ham man

Ipswich Town, however, are looking to raid the London Stadium in the window as per Football Insider.

The report has claimed the Tractor Boys are hoping to fend off interest from Celtic and Everton to sign Callum Wilson before deadline day.

It has been suggested the 33-year-old is on Kieran McKenna’s radar and are said to have offered the former Bournemouth man an 18-month deal at Portman Road.

The striker is poised to depart east London this month after falling down the pecking order under Nuno Espirito Santo and has featured 17 times in the Premier League this term.
