Why is Portsmouth v Charlton Athletic on Sky Sports tonight and when else are Blues on TV?

Pompey take on relegation rivals Charlton Athletic at The Valley this evening.

Pompey will be looking to claim a huge three points in their fight for survival as they face relegation rivals Charlton Athletic this evening.

The Blues sit just one point above the bottom three but crucially have two games in hand against 22nd-placed Leicester City, who were handed a six-point deduction earlier this month.

John Mousinho’s men head into this evening’s clash off the back of a frustrating 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday, while Nathan Jones’ side had a clear weekend of no Championship or FA Cup action.

Why is Pompey v Charlton Athletic on Sky Sports tonight?

Supporters who are unable to make the trip to The Valley tonight will be able to catch all of the action on Sky Sports+.

That is because of a key agreement between Sky and the EFL, which allows postponed games already scheduled for TV coverage to once again broadcast live.

The Blues’ initial fixture in the capital, which kicked off at 12.30pm, was being shown live on Sky Sports+ in December, meaning fans will still be able to watch this evening’s fixture.

Should Pompey’s game against Charlton have originally kicked off at 3pm on Saturday, December 6, then this evening’s contest would not have been broadcast on television.

There will, though, be no studio guests or pre-and-post match analysis before, just live commentary when the action gets underway from 7.45pm.

To find Sky Sports+, fans can click the red button on Sky Sports Football, which will give them a choice of viewing over live fixtures or viewers can simply find the Sky Sports+ channel.

Alternatively, a NOW TV membership can be purchased, with day passes to stream the match - as well as Sky Sports’ 12 other channels - available for £14.99.

Six of Pompey’s next seven matches will be broadcast on Sky Sports, with Saturday’s game against Millwall the only fixture not chosen for live viewing.

The Blues’ trip to Wrexham next Tuesday (7.45pm) and their home clash against Hull City on Saturday, February 28 (12.30pm) will both be broadcast live on Sky Sports+.

The following weekend, Mousinho’s men face relegation rivals Blackburn Rovers on the Sky Sports Football and Main Event channels before a midweek home fixture against Swansea City on Sky Sports+.

Sky and the EFL will be announcing new games to be televised on a weekly basis for the remainder of the season.
