‘Would be unforgivable. An insult. Joke.’ No-nonsense Portsmouth verdict over Terry Devlin amid £2m Wrexham links
Terry Devlin has been linked with a £2m switch to Championship rivals Wrexham before this evening’s transfer deadline.
Pompey fans have taken to social media to voice their opposition to any departure for Terry Devlin before this evening’s transfer deadline.
It follows after transfer guru Alan Nixon revealed the Red Dragons had identified the 22-year-old as a potential option to challenge Issa Kabore in Phil Parkinson’s backline.
The fresh report has claimed the Blues have placed a £2m price tag on Devlin, who is currently under contract at Fratton Park until the summer of 2028.
The popular defender has amassed 25 appearances this term and has established himself as a regular fixture in John Mousinho’s backline.
Indeed, the Fratton faithful have taken to social media to share their stance over the rumoured interest in the four-cap Northern Ireland international as speculation grows in the final knockings of the window.
Here’s the best of the reaction from X.
@JackDavis10: I’d go as far as saying Terry Devlin is our most valuable playing asset at the club. In no way should we sell right now but the right club at this level are reportedly interested from a value perspective and would take a huge offer to get him now or in the summer.
@Aaron25650310: 2m that’s a joke if we sell him!
@capfc11: I don’t even think we’d be stupid enough to sell Devlin for £2m!! If we want to be a serious Championship club we would laugh of interest like that and do what every other club does and put a ridiculous price tag on him!!
@olliejoell1606: 2 mil? But Wrexham overpay. I want 9 bare minimum.
@Thomas_2791: If Terry Devlin has a half decent agent he’ll still be a Pompey player when the window closes.
@mjwmacca: Easily can get 5 plus mill and that could even be on the cheaper side. New contract, versatile, Northern Ireland International with tons of quality and the potential to be a top top player. He’s too important to us to lose him now.
@ParryMacdonald: Selling Devlin to anyone for that price would be unforgivable, especially to a club with a budget like they have.
@JBDS__: 22 y/o, contracted until 2028, player of the season so far and only going to get better. I really hope this is just noise because it has to be a minimum of 5m, and given you're negotiating with a club you know has a lot of money, you'd surely be asking for even more.
@CamGpfc: This is an insult. Do Wrexham want to pull our trousers down anymore? He's worth triple that.
@JoeWood_7: Yeah that's not happening for £2m. He's worth at least £5m to us due to proximity to deadline and his importance, and then you have to apply the obligatory Wrexham tax that everyone else seems to hit them with.
