Pompey are due to travel to Ashton Gate on Sunday, January 10 for a third-round tie in the FA Cup.

If several Robins players test positive the squad will have to go into a 10-day self-isolation period in accordance to government and EFL guidelines.

An EFL statement said: ‘Bristol City‘s Sky Bet Championship match at Brentford tomorrow has been postponed (January 2nd, 3pm).

‘COVID-19 symptoms have today (Friday) become evident within the City squad.

‘Due to the New Year Bank Holiday closure of the testing laboratory, it has not been possible to arrange the testing of the entire squad and backroom staff ahead of tomorrow’s match at the Brentford Community Stadium.

‘Following discussions with Brentford and the English Football League the decision has been taken to postpone the game for the safety of players and staff of both clubs.

‘A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course.’

Pompey’s games against Swindon and Bristol Rovers over the festive period were postponed because of five coronavirus cases in the Fratton Park camp.

Tomorrow’s trip to Accrington has also been called-off due to a frozen pitch at the Wham Stadium.
