And that figure could yet rise considerably further if Kenny Jackett’s men produce more success in knockout competitions this season.

The Blues will trouser the massive kitty as a result of delivering a Wembley return in the Leasing.com Trophy, advancing to face Arsenal in the FA Cup fifth round and progressing to the third round of the Carabao Cup.

The prize and TV money continues to pour in after the semi-final victory over Exeter City at Fratton Park on Tuesday night.

Victory at Fratton Park means the Blues have now coined a minimum £225,000 from their run so far, with that figure rising by another £50,000 if they become the first club to pick up back-to-back wins in the competition.

It’s their progress in the FA Cup which has really seen the money earned rocket this season, however.

Making it to the fifth round has brought £540,750 into the Fratton coffers from the FA Cup prize fund and broadcast payments, with the Blues also handed a huge £250,000 fillip for being the lowest-ranked team left in the competition this season.

That figure was then matched earlier this month when the meeting with the Gunners was chosen for TV coverage on BT Sport on March 2.

That takes the FA Cup prize pot alone past the £1m mark, with an additional £360,000 arriving if Kenny Jackett’s side shock Mikel Arteta’s men.

Additional revenue was also pulled in from advancing to the third round of the Carabao Cup, with the clashes with Birmingham and Southampton televised on Sky Sports.

With first-round ties pulling in a £75,000 ‘facility fee’ and round three earning £125,000 that’s another £200,000 in the burgeoning cup fund.

That takes the cumulative figure to a massive £1,465,750 for their success to date, as Pompey are rewarded for their charge on multiple fronts this term.

And those numbers don’t even take into account gate revenue generated from the additional fixtures, with their Wembley trip on April 5 their 16th in cup competitions this term – as things stand.

Pompey are assured of 45 per cent of the gate receipts from their day at the home of football, with a similar percentage earned from the sell-out Arsenal game. Fratton Park was also filled to capacity for the third-round meeting with rivals Southampton last September.
