And in a warning to those thinking of tabling an offer with less than 12 hours of the January transfer window remaining, he claimed bids of £200,000 to £300,00 would be ‘no good to me on the last day of the window’.

The Blues were credited with a failed move for the 26-year-old Scot on Sunday as Danny Cowley looks to add to his midfield options.

Reports subsequently emerged from south Yorkshire that no such offer had been received.

Yet, The News understands talks have taken place behind the scenes and that Lindsay is a player Cowley highly regards.

It appears the Blues boss’ interest alone, though, will not be enough to prise the former Ross County ace away from the New York Stadium.

It was initially believed Rotherham were adopting a hardball stance on a player who joined them for £250,000 in 2019 and whom they have a 12-month option on at the end of the season.

And that stance was reaffirmed when Warne today addressed the media ahead of his side’s trip to Rotherham on Tuesday night.

When asked if he was anticipating any outgoings today, with striker Freddie Ladapo also linked with a move away, he said no-one would be sold cheaply, nor was he in a rush to let anyone leave today.

Warne said: ‘Contrary to stories in some media outlets, there has been no official bid for Jamie Lindsay.

‘There have been no bids for Freddie Ladapo.

‘There have been numerous phone calls about many players in many positions at this club but there have been no bids we've had to turn down.

‘I envisage Jamie staying here. It would have to be a significant bid.

‘Jamie isn't in the team but it's not because he isn't a very good player.

‘He's not in because the three lads in front of him are on absolute fire.

‘If he gets back in, he'll probably stay in.

‘I cannot see a bid being significant enough to turn our heads.

‘It's not like we're fending off bids from Premier League clubs coming in with proper money.

‘If somebody offered me £200,000 to £300,00 for Jamie, what am I going to do with that? It's no good to me on the last day of the window.

‘The Freddie situation is a different one.

‘I've got five strikers and he wants to go.

‘If an offer comes in we will obviously consider it. But we don't have to sell any of our players cheap.

‘We have options on a lot of them. Jamie's got another year. We're not in any rush to do any business today.’
