The Blues hadn’t lost since March stretching 27 matches, but suffered a 4-0 hammering at the hands of the Tangerines, with skipper Joe Morrell also seeing red.
It was an appalling second-half display from John Mousinho’s men, who have also been knocked off the top of League One by Bolton. Here’s our Pompey player ratings...
9. Abu Kamara - 5
(Replaced by Kusini Yengi on 69 mins) Put one delightful ball through to Martin for a one-on-one which he should have scored and had a strong penalty shout ignored in the second half. Encouraging moments in number 10 role overall. Photo: Jason Brown
10. Josh Martin - 4
(Replaced by Christian Saydee on 56 mins) Had a great opportunity to open his account on Blues debut, only to see first-half one-on-one saved by the keeper. Otherwise very quiet on first competitive outing since February and struggled to get involved. Photo: Jason Brown
11. Colby Bishop - 6
(Replaced by Ben Stevenson on 80 mins) Given little protection from the referee against Ekpiteta and must have picked up plenty of bruises. Unfortunately one of the several Pompey first-half chances never fell to him. Photo: Jason Brown
