National League clubs have still yet to decide on whether to end the regular campaign without playing games that were scheduled up to April 25.

Steps three and below of the non-league pyramid have ended amid the coronavirus crisis, with locals clubs such as Gosport Borough and Bognor being impacted.

While Pompey’s League One promotion push will recommence when it’s regarded safe to do so, a decision on the top-two tiers of non-league football is still to be made.

A BBC report suggested 10 clubs want the season to end immediately, four want it to continue and nine are undecided, while one refused to answer.

After a frustrating spell at Swindon during the first half of the season, where he made only 13 appearances, he was hoping for regular minutes in the Wood’s pursuit of promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history.

May’s not played since the 1-1 draw with the Pools on February 29, however, because of the shutdown of football.

And should the National League season be declared null and void, the 22-year-old will be confined to training-ground action for a period.

May was hoping to catch the eye of Blues boss Kenny Jackett and bolster his chances of establishing himself at Fratton Park in the future.

In total, May has made 29 appearances for Pompey since making his debut in April 2015.
