And looking ahead to Friday night’s 11pm transfer window deadline day, the manager predicted a ‘quiet next 24 hours’ at Fratton Park.

May has this week been on trial at League Two Crawley as he bids to earn himself a loan move to Broadfield.

The Reds are one of ‘a couple of league clubs’ to have expressed an interest in the 22-year-old, who saw his loan spell at League Two leaders Swindon cut short this month.

But according to Jackett, Pompey have had no update on his progress – nor has their been any offers put on the table from Crawley or elsewhere.

The academy graduate, who is out of contract at the end of the season, made only 13 appearances for Swindon over the first half of the season, with only five of them coming from the start.

The Blues are keen to loan him out again – preferably to a league club.

Yet Jackett isn’t ruling out a move to the National League if that doesn’t materialise.

The Pompey manager said: ‘He (Adam) has been there a couple of days at Crawley.

‘I haven’t heard anything yet.

‘There’s been a couple of clubs who have shown an interest – Crawley being one of them – and a couple of league clubs.

‘But there’s no offers on the table for Adam, so in terms of where he’s going to go, we’ll see.

‘We do want to get him out and playing on loan if we can.

‘And if it doesn’t come about that he gets to a league club in the next 24 hours, obviously, the non-league route, the Conference, is still open beyond Friday.

‘But the plan is to still get him out playing.

‘But there are no offers in the table.’

A possible loan move for May is clearly high on the Fratton Park agenda as the clock ticks down on the transfer window.

If the Blues succeed, the midfielder will be the third departure this month, with Anton Walkes (Atlanta United) and Luke McGee having already left.

Heading in the opposite direction, Jackett has recruited Steve Seddon and Cameron McGeehan on loan and paid an undisclosed fee for Reeco Hackett-Fairchild.

But in terms of other activity between now and 11pm on Friday, the Blues boss said ‘nothing was pending’.

He added: ‘It’s very quite at the moment – both in and out.

‘There’s nothing pending and if anything happens or develops this afternoon or tomorrow, we’ll see.

‘But as we are at the moment, it looks like it will be quite a quiet next 24 hours.’
