But what about the 16 men who departed at Fratton Park this summer? Some have found new homes while others are waiting to see what their futures hold. We’ve got the latest lowdown on what’s happened to those former Blues men.
9. Alfie Bridgman
Looks like it could be taking a step back to take a step forward for the promising Malta under-19 international. Has been snapped up by Eastbourne Borough and will be plying his trade in the National League South next term, but has potential to play higher as he develops. Photo: Robin Jones
10. Dan Gifford
Like Bridgman, the striker will be looking to take a similar career path with a move out of the EFL before hopefully bouncing back. Has the work ethic to succeed with Hawks his most likely destination after playing against Pompey on trial last weekend. Photo: Simon Davies
11. Jay Mingi
Was offered a new contract by Pompey, which means they are entitled to training compensation from wherever the midfielder pitches up next. Was touted for a Championship move to West Brom, but that seems a stretch. There’s undoubted potential there, however, so likely to find a new home at League One or League Two level. 12. Di'Shon Bernard
Defender is on the lookout for a new home after leaving Manchester United. A run with Jamaica to the semi-finals of the Concacaf Gold Cup raised his profile, but his decision to sit tight and wait for a move led to Pompey instead turning to Regan Poole. Not at all inconceivable Bernard could come in still if he doesn’t find a taker in the Championship, but the Blues would likely to need to sell to offset his arrival now. Photo: Jason Brown
