But what about the 16 men who departed at Fratton Park this summer? Some have found new homes while others are waiting to see what their futures hold. We’ve got the latest lowdown on what’s happened to those former Blues men.
13. Matt Macey
Keeper impressed on loan and was wanted on a permanent deal, but Luton’s promotion the Premier League meant a hike in his wages which put the former Hibs man beyond Pompey’s reach. Means his best bet this season is another loan, or he’ll be left to sit in the stiffs at Kenilworth Road. Photo: Jason Brown
14. Dane Scarlett
An education of a loan spell at Pompey for the teenager. Highly thought of by Spurs but after a bright start lost his way and confidence drained away. Got away to the under-20 World Cup with England and scored the winner against Tunisia. Another loan stint looks likely next term. Photo: Jason Brown
15. Joe Pigott
Returned to Ipswich after his loan stint last term and since been released from Portman Road. Gillingham have been mentioned as suitors but Pigott may see himself operating at a higher level. Photo: Jason Brown
16. Ronan Curtis
Took the decision not to sign the reduced terms he was offered at Pompey as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Instead Curtis will rehab at the club and is on course for a return in September. The winger will then need to build his fitness toward the end of the year, where it will become clear if the longest-serving senior player’s future is at Fratton or elsewhere. Photo: Paul Thompson
