The striker was a surprise omission from Kenny Jackett’s match-day squad for the key League One promotion clash, having started in the FA Cup loss against Arsenal in midweek.

Pompey fell to a disappointing 2-0 reverse, with Fratton youth product Dan Butler and Ivan Toney on target.

Blues boss Jackett said: ‘Ellis Harrison’s partner had a baby. It’s their first one so congratulation to them and that’s the reason why he wasn’t at the game.’
