The Blues picked up an impressive 2-0 success over their promotion rivals with two second-half goals in front of the Fratton End.

Gosport boy Jack Whatmough got his first senior goal at PO4 before Tom Naylor followed that up with another thunderbolt strike.

Those efforts were made all the more poignant as they arrived in front of 2,000 home fans, as they returned after nine months - an absence spanning 270 days.

Eisner acknowledged their impact on proceedings as the Chimes rang out again, as well as the quality of Pompey’s performance.

‘Nice to have the fans back to help #Pompey win in style,’ the American wrote when taking to Twitter after the game.

President of Tornante and club director, Andy Redman, was quick to acknowledge the role supporters played in the tempo their team played out.

He tweeted: Nice 2-0 win for @Pompey this morning where the impact of fans at Fratton Park was very clear! Great goals from @JackWhatmough3 (his 1st at home) and another from skipper @tomnaylor_7

And Eric Eisner summed up the occasion succinctly when retweeting his father’s words.

He said: ‘Can’t underestimate the power of the #bluearmy.’
