He said: ‘The win at Crewe meant we were able to give people a bit more to smile about on the pitch – in addition to the good news about the Supporters’ Trust at the end of last week.

‘So it just crowned a decent week in the life of Portsmouth Football Club.

‘Rather than the 12 months previously where there were none.

But this is Pompey isn’t it, until it is actually done and dusted you just don’t know.

‘It looked more positive last week, though, especially on the football pitch.

‘If we can keep doing that and making sure people are buoyed and happy with life on the pitch then that might help along the way.’
