Chris Kongo's bold claim ahead of Sky Sports Box Office showdown with Portsmouth's Mikey McKinson

Chris Kongo is adamant he's going to 'knockout' Pompey's Mickey McKinson and retain his WBO Global welterweight title in front of the Sky Sports Box Office cameras.

The confident Bermondsey boxer claims he has what it takes to do what no fighter has yet done and defeat the Pompey Problem.

Anticipation is continuing to build ahead of what should be a tasty Battle of Britain on the Dillian Whyte v Alexander Povetkin II undercard in Gibraltar.

And if the first meeting between the two is anything to go by it should be a thrilling night in the ring.

But despite McKinson coming into the battle with a perfect 19-0 record, Kongo is saying he's going to be victorious inside the distance.

In a message to the Pompey Problem ahead of Saturday's huge showdown, he said: ‘Mikey, whatever you bring on the night I will walk through. I’m going to go there and by the end of the night I will knock you out - see you Saturday.'

Confident Kongo went on: 'He’s been giving mixed messages saying he’s going to outbox me, he’s going to stop me and he’s going to knock me out.

‘Me - all through the start until now - I’ve been claiming and I’ve been saying I’m going to knock this guy out.’
