Fareham & Crofton CC openers share another century stand in latest friendly win over higher division opposition

Ahead of their forthcoming Hampshire League campaign, F & C have beaten two Southern Premier League Division 3 clubs.

Wimble (103 not out) and Kent (61) put on 179 for the first wicket against 2019 County 1 runners-up Hook & Newnham Basics II, setting up a 59-run win.

Kent (76) and Wimble (72) followed that up with a 151-run partnership as the Bath Lane side chased down Gosport Borough’s 227-7 (Denzel James 92).

Fareham were cruising at 209-2, but lost four wickets for five runs before Sam Stoddart’s unbeaten 35 got them across the line.

Srinath Nugegoda bagged five wickets as Gosport Borough 2nds defeated Fareham & Crofton 2nds in a Privett Park friendly.

He cleaned up the tail, ending with 5-24 as Fareham slumped from 70-2 to 135 all out.

Wicket-keeper James Corrie (31) top scored at the top of the order with Dale Patternotte (3-9 off eight overs) dismissing Fareham’s top three.

Opener Rob Wood (4) fell early in Gosport’s reply, but they were cruising when Greg Kitchin (46) and captain Gavin King (46) added 73 for the second wicket.

Charlie Pennicott (24 not out) sealed his side’s six-wicket victory when he struck a six off the last ball of the 27th over.

Joe Williams and Alvin Sajijohn shared eight wickets as Gosport Borough 3rds defeated Havant 3rds in a friendly.

Opener Danielle Ransley top scored with 37 as Williams (4-12 off seven overs) and Sajijohn (4-22) combined to dismiss Havant for 118.

Matt Hayward (31) was the only other batsman in double figures while extras (27) was next highest.

Lee Butcher (86 not out) and Jackson Todd (39) had helped Gosport post 172-3.
