Millie Rolfe is a boxing Euro star after conquering continent's best in Turkey
Paulsgrove and Ted Harris ABC talent Millie Rolfe celebrated European success in Turkey
Portsmouth can boast yet another boxing champion for the entire city to be proud of.
Just weeks after Mark Chamberlain secured the IBO’s light-welterweight title with victory over Pierce O'Leary in Dublin, and days after Heart of Portsmouth’s Charlie Keet won under-17 European gold in Budva, Montenegro, 13-year-old Millie Rolfe has also made a name for herself on the international stage.
The Paulsgrove and Ted Harris ABC talent was in Turkey competing in the Under-15 European Boxing Championships.
As expected, the recently crowned under-42kg class A National Schools champion came up against some tough opponents.
However, none of them were a match for Rolfe, who spectacularly saw them all off with unanimous decisions to secure top spot in the 44kg category.
Her gold-medal bout was against Georgia’s Nini Tchitanava, with the five judges watching on having no other option but to hand the Paulsgrove schoolgirl the title after three powerful rounds of boxing.
To put the achievement into perspective, Rolfe - who is coached by Paul Dyer - only started boxing three years ago and was coming up against girls from across the continent who were her senior.
Congratulations, Millie.
