Bristow agonisingly missed out on three figures once again after previously scoring 93 against Clanfield.

It was hard work for Fair Oak in the field with a very slow over rate due to the Community batsman losing a number of balls in the surrounding hedges!

However, despite the boundary blitz, John Bassom recorded 4-59.

Fair Oak were then blown away by Kalim Shiraz who recorded his best figures of 5-25 - with all his victims clean bowled. Remarkably, that was after conceding 16 runs in his first over.

Shiraz now had 30 league wickets this season - four more than anyone else in the division, with Gosport’s Danny Bradley-Turner the next best. And Shiraz’s wickets have come at a superb average of just 8.70.

Fair Oak limped to 60 all out with only three batters reaching double figures.

Both ended unbeaten on 19 as Purbrook reached their target in the 38th over.

Opener Hayden Sole - who had passed 50 in eight of his previous 10 league innings in 2022 - was dismissed in single figures (9) for the first time this year.

Roy Marsh’s 26 for Purbrook was the highest individual innings in the game, as Billy Wythe (24) top scored for Hayling.
