While this weekend was a quiet one for me, I did manage to catch a glimpse of those who DJed at Fraser's Funkraiser for House of the Heroes at The Loft in Albert Road '“ and what a show they put on! Be sure to check out the fundraising campaign at justgiving.com

Kicking things off tonight in the local drum and bass scene, UP DnB, Inform Records, Hot Plates and Outlook Festival have teamed up to present the official Portsmouth launch party for Outlook Festival in August with headline DJ Doc Scott at The Old Barn, Milton. For those unaware of Outlook Festival, it’s one of Europe’s largest soundsystem culture events.

DJ Doc Scott has been a name in drum and bass for past 20 years with releases on Goldie’s MetalHeadz and 31 Records and will performing alongside Sepia, Co:Lateral and Blazin as well as residents Kirbstomp, Mota, Goblin and Tim Clay.

The event will run from 8pm-1.30am with early-bird tickets at £7, visit oldbarnmilton.co.uk.

Tonight will also see It’s A Sin returning at The Wedgewood Rooms, Albert Road, with DJs Tommy Leigh and Billy Colburn in the main room while Hipshaker resident DJs will take over The Edge of the Wedge bar. As usual, entry will be free in both rooms with plenty of old school ’80s, ’90s pop, indie and party anthems in room one and lots of Motown in the Edge.

Tomorrow, deep/tech house promoters Love Amplified will be presenting their first artist showcase for their in house label Amplified Records at The Old Barn. This artists showcased will be label heads Soul Divide alongside Wheats, Latecomer, Fred Symonds and Harley Vince. If their releases are anything to go by, they will be pushing the vibes with plenty of their own bumping tech-house productions. Doors open from 8pm-1.30am and tickets cost £5 from fatsoma.com.
