Pale Waves, Southampton Guildhall, review: '˜A powerful atmospheric show'

Last night new Indie Pop band Pale Waves put on an energetic show at the Southampton Guildhall.

The band has recently released their debut album My Mind Makes Noises, which peaked at number eight in the UK charts this September. They have been touring it around the UK and even though the show was not sold out, their dedicated fans crammed into the venue and eagerly waited for Pale Waves.

The support for the night was provided by King Nun and Swimming Girls. Pale Waves took to the stage in front of a backdrop of intense strobe lighting. The lead singer, Heather Baron-Gracie, picked up her microphone and instantly began dancing around the stage.

The dance moves were unique and lively as they opened their set with Television Romance '“ a single from their new album. The fans sang along to every lyric with heartfelt emotion and the songs that followed created a powerful atmospheric show.

The night consisted of songs from their debut album and EP combined. Even though the set was sadly short, this band is new to the indie scene and played with a high stage presence that captivated the audience.

The impressive encore consisted of two songs, Noises and There's a Honey, which saw the fans climb upon each other's shoulders as they danced the night to an end.

They will be supporting the 1975 when they tour the UK in the New Year and are definitely a band to see if you get the chance.
