AFC Portchester Academy open evenings now live for students to explore their next steps in education and football

AFC Portchester Boys & Girls Academy Open Evenings are now live for booking, giving current Year 11 students leaving school in 2027 the opportunity to explore their next steps in education and football.

For students looking for an alternative to the traditional college route, AFC Portchester Academy offers the opportunity to combine further education with football development in a competitive sporting environment.

The Academy is designed for students who are passionate about sport, eager to develop their footballing ability and interested in pursuing future opportunities within the football and wider sporting industries. Alongside regular training and competitive fixtures, students work towards nationally recognised qualifications while developing skills.

Students can work towards two BTEC Level 3 Sport qualifications:

• BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport (equivalent in size to two A Levels), covering areas such as Sport Science, Sports Coaching and Sports Business.

• BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (equivalent in size to three A Levels), offering a more extensive programme of study within the sports sector.

Alongside their academic studies, students benefit from being part of the AFC Portchester football environment, with a clear pathway providing opportunities to progress within the club. Academy players have already had opportunities to train and play alongside the men’s first team, highlighting the potential for ambitious players to develop their game within a senior football setting.

With plans to expand opportunities for female players, the Academy will also host dedicated girls’ open evenings. These sessions will provide prospective female students with the opportunity to learn more about the programme, meet the team and explore the opportunities available to them.

The open evenings are an important first step for students considering AFC Portchester Academy for September 2027 entry. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the coaching and education team, learn more about the qualifications and football programme, and discover whether the Academy is the right fit for their future ambitions.

Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend alongside prospective students.

The sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the educational pathway, speak directly with the coaching and education team, and understand how the Academy can support students in achieving their academic and sporting goals.
