John said: ‘It actually felt amazing. It made me feel that all the hard work, the hours of studying at college and countless hours of on the job training has finally paid off. To anyone considering an apprenticeship I would say to them go for it.  Be prepared to put in 100 per cent effort and be willing to learn.’

The Thatcham Research Academy is a leading provider of skills training and accreditation to the motor repair and insurance industries.

Mr Sainsbury said: ‘Apprentices like John are an asset to the business and it’s a relationship where everyone benefits. We’re on the lookout for our next star apprentice.’
