Emsworth residents meet flats developer

MORE THAN 50 residents attended an exhibition to view a developer's plans for their town.

McCarthy & Stone wants to turn Orchard House in Western Avenue, Emsworth, into 25 retirement living apartments, designed to meet the needs of people in later life. The company also wants to include landscaping and 28 car parking spaces.

Local residents had the opportunity to view the plans, discuss the proposals with members of the project team and give their feedback, at Emsworth Community Centre.

Shane Paull, regional managing director of McCarthy & Stone, said: ‘We really welcome the opportunity to speak with the local community about our plans for Emsworth.

‘We were encouraged by the number of people who attended and the recognition that there is a need for this form of accommodation locally.

‘We will now review the feedback we have received before submitting a planning application to Havant Borough Council.’
