Gala dinner raises great sum

ALL the razzmatazz of the swinging twenties helped business professionals raise almost £2,000 for charity.

Members of R3's southern committee drummed up an impressive sum for cancer charity, Myeloma UK, during their annual black tie ball.

This year's Great Gatsby-themed event was staged at Southampton Harbour Hotel and was in memory of  Adrian Rann, who used to work with accounts James Cowper Kreston.

Adrian died in December following a short battle with myeloma, a form of blood cancer. Mike Pavitt, chairman of R3 southern committee said Myeloma UK was a charity '˜close to the hearts' of members.

Following a sit-down dinner, guests took part in a fundraising raffle and were invited to try their luck with 'fun money' in the casino entertainment, with live music provided by Tom Guyer and his Gatsby band.
