Office closes its doors after six decades

THE NEWS has closed its Fareham office after nearly six decades serving the town.

The office, in West Street, saw its last day of trading yesterday.

The shop originally opened in the 1950s and once sold a range of newspapers, chocolates, sweets, cards and  stationery.

Branch manager Paul Ellis has retired.

The nearest office will now be at 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, Portsmouth.

The Fareham office is being sold and editorial will also move to 1000 Lakeside.
