'Rollercoaster journey' brought to an end at The Courtyard Restaurant at Southsea Castle as it announces closure
Restaurant announces closure
Changes are pending at Southsea Castle as its resident restaurant confirms its closure after more than a decade.

The Courtyard Restaurant has announced the team are bringing their “wonderful rollercoaster of a journey to an end” after the family-run business was established in 2015.
In an Instagram post, it said: “After 12 unforgettable years at Southsea Castle, we’ve decided that the time has come to close the doors of The Courtyard Restaurant - I am so incredibly proud of what we have achieved since our first day, and being a tiny part of the history of one of Southsea’s most iconic historical landmarks has been something truly special.

“To all our loyal customers... Thank you. We’ve loved seeing the same familiar faces return time and time again. Celebrating special occasions with your families, popping in for a coffee on a dog walk, enjoying our Sunday roasts, and even one very special family member’s proposal.
“That loyalty has never gone unnoticed, and we’re so grateful to everyone who has supported us over the years.”
Surrounded by an integral part of the city’s history, the restaurant is known for its high quality menus that offer breakfast, lunch and a Sunday roast, which is a customer favourite.
Although this weekend is The Courtyard’s last, it will open for the three Sundays leading up to Christmas to give “everyone one last opportunity to enjoy a proper Courtyard Sunday roast before we close our doors for good.”
The post continued: “We also want to say a huge thank you to all the brilliant people who have worked alongside us over the past 12 years. We couldn’t have done it without you.
“Running an independent hospitality venue is tougher than ever right now and every day is a challenge. So to all the cafes, pubs, restaurants and bars still fighting to stay afloat, I hope with all my heart that the wind changes soon and your businesses will thrive once again.”
