"All hands on deck" as Hilsea Lido races towards finish line with protective tent starting to be dismantled

“All hands on deck” as Hilsea Lido races toward finish line.

In the Portsmouth City Council’s latest Hilsea Lido update, it has been outlined that the £7.75m regeneration project will be taking another step towards completion.

The contractors, Beard, will start clearing and removing the temporary office spaces at the site, resulting in limited parking over the next two weeks.

The temporary protective tent, which spans the 67m outdoor pool, will also be dismantled in the coming weeks while contractors complete concreting, rendering, sanding, tiling and painting.

In an update from the Portsmouth City Council, a spokesperson said: “It'll be all hands on deck to install handrails and ladders in the pool, fill it up, finish off the landscaping, and bring in the beach huts and kiosk area.

“Once it's complete, we'll hand the keys over to Sea Lanes, who will be running the site with South Downs Leisure. They'll need some time to train their staff, and bring in the extra equipment they need, but watch this space for an opening date.”

The scheme, which is being paid for by the Levelling Up Fund, will welcome new changing rooms, benches, tables, fountain and a fully functioning pool, as well as a sauna.
