Air ambulance called as police put up cordon in Portsmouth city centre after incident

Emergency services are attending an incident in Portsmouth city centre this evening.

A police cordon was put up in Arundel Street near the junction with Slindon Street at around 5.30pm. Slindon Street, Yapton Street and part of Arundel Street are taped off.

Officers were attending the scene, as well as paramedics.

An air ambulance took off from the Debenhams car park.

Police are looking at CCTV outside Wilko and on the corner of Slindon Street, where the U Need Us party shop used to be.

The News has contacted Hampshire Constabulary for comment.

PureGym has been closed as a result of the incident. It's understood that those still inside will be let out the back of the building.
