Asylum seeker found not guilty of rape of woman outside court building
An asylum seeker has been found not guilty of the rape of a woman and a charge of voyeurism.
Mubarak Ibrehim, who is living at the Royal Beach Hotel in Southsea at the time, was on trial at Portsmouth Crown Court accused in connection with the incident on June 11 2025 which happened at the rear of the building where the case was being held.
The prosecution said the woman had accused the 25-year-old of raping her and filming the incident on his mobile phone.
But the defendant maintained the sex was consensual and the complainant had “led” him to the vehicle entry bay of the court building where they had sexual intercourse.
Ibrehim, originally from the Sudan, told the jury he had arrived in the UK unlawfully on a small inflatable boat from France in October 2023 and he was seeking political asylum.
