Local residents were alarmed after describing seeing officers in forensics uniforms investigating the area close to Portchester Community Centre.

The man, in his 40s, was found dead in a park off Westlands Grove in Portchester.

Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious.

A statement from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 6.53am to the park in Westlands Grove, Portchester, after a man in his 40s was found dead. His next of kin have been informed.

‘The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.’
