Four men in Waterlooville busted by police after breaking lockdown rules to drink booze and watch football

The males, all in their fifties, were given a red card by the authorities after police broke up their boozy gathering at a home in Waterlooville.

All the men were from different households but were caught mixing together in a single property in Sassoon Place on Saturday evening, in violation of coronavirus lockdown rules.

A spokesman for Hampshire police said: ‘We were called to a potential breach of Covid-19 regulations at around 5pm on Saturday, November 7, to an address in Sassoon Place on the Berewood estate in the Waterlooville area.

‘Officers found a number of adults from different households, drinking and socialising whilst watching football.

‘Four men, aged in their fifties, have been issued a fixed penalty notice of £200 each after officers engaged with the group and explained the regulations.’

Current lockdown rules have seen all pubs, restaurants and non-essential shops being forced to close until December 2.

As part of the four-week stint of restrictions, people are also banned from mixing with anyone outside their households and support bubbles, except for childcare and other forms of support.

Single adult households can still form support bubbles, and children can still move between homes if parents are separated.
