Neighbours voice sadness over loss of life following fatal stabbing in Leigh Park

At 11pm on Saturday, May 23, police were called to an incident in Tichborne Grove, where a man and a woman had been stabbed.

Hide AdThe woman was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
A 31-year-old man from Hayling Island and a 25-year-old man from Camborne in Cornwall have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.
A 33-year-old woman from Havant, has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and perverting the course of justice.
Today residents in the area voiced their shock at what had happened.

Hide AdOne neighbour in Tichborne Grove said: ‘It’s a bit of a shock – we’re still processing what’s gone on.
‘It’s not nice to think about how something like this could happen so close to home.
‘Sadly I suppose that’s the world we live in these days.’
Another resident, who lives in the adjacent Rownhams Road, said: ‘You don’t expect something to happen like that.
‘It’s worrying for people, especially families with children growing up in the area. It’s incredibly sad.’

Hide AdPolice tape has gone up around the property in Tichborne Grove, guarded by police.
Hampshire Constabulary’s Marine Unit has been at the scene alongside forensics teams, and officers have been searching the nearby area for further evidence.
Flowers have also been laid by loved ones outside the home.
But one resident in Overton Crescent, which backs onto Tichborne Grove, said there is a fierce sense of community spirit in the area.
He said: ‘Everyone around here knows all of their neighbours – it’s a close community.

‘Any murder is going to worry people, but when it happens just a couple of hundred yards away from you, it really hits home.’
