The documentary aired at the start of the month

The harrowing roadside confession of murderer Norbert Maiksner, who killed his ex-partner Frances Obiefuleh, has been featured in a new Channel 5 documentary.

Murder: Suspect No. 1 explores how Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary investigated the murder of the Havant mum-of-one, including how Maiksner confessed to the crime at the side of the M40 before claiming it was “all a dream”.

Maiksner, 49, from Timsbury Crescent in Havant, was found guilty of murdering Frances earlier this year following a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

He was arrested at the side of the M40 near High Wycombe after being found walking along the motorway. It was at this point that he confessed to killing his ex-girlfriend, prompting multiple police units to attend her home.

Ms Obiefuleh’s body was subsequently discovered with blue tape wrapped around her face and head. Her child was also found at the property unharmed. A post-mortem examination ruled her cause of death as smothering, with an element of neck and/or chest compression.

Following his chilling confession, Maiksner insisted to officers that it “was all a bad dream” and that he wanted to wake up.

During the trial, the court heard how his relationship with Ms Obiefuleh had broken down and that she had been on a date with another man a few days before her death.

Maiksner was seen entering her home on the evening of April 16 on doorbell camera footage. However, after the Wi-Fi was switched off at the mains socket, he was not captured leaving the property.

Police also found scratches on Maiksner's face and body, while blood splatters on his clothing matched Ms Obiefuleh's DNA profile.

After a two-week trial, a jury at Portsmouth Crown Court found him guilty of murder and a separate count of child cruelty, reaching their verdict on Friday, March 27.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary highlighted the documentary on social media, writing: “Go behind the scenes of a major Hampshire investigation.

“Channel 5’s Murder: Suspect No. 1 follows the investigation into the murder of Frances Obiefuleh in Havant, featuring interviews with members of the investigation team who worked to secure justice following a roadside confession.”
