Portsmouth boss provides concerning Connor Ogilvie latest as injury frustrations continue

Connor Ogilvies is yet to feature for Pompey this season as he continues his recovery from two knee surgeries.

Pompey remain in the dark over Connor Ogilvie’s injury return.

The left-back is continuing his recovery from double knee surgery, which has forced him to miss the opening three months of the new Championship season.

The 30-year-old, who penned a new two-year deal at Fratton Park in June, underwent his first procedure in July, which subsequently ruled him out of pre-season - although there was initial hope of a return in late August.

But that optimism was dashed, with Ogilvie undergoing a second operation in August as he continued to experience pain in his knee.

Connor Ogilvie injury update as Pompey frustrations continue

There was slight optimism over a return for Ogilvie, when he appeared as part of the travelling party for the 1-1 draw against Wolves in October.

Mousinho, though, explained at the time that the former Spurs man’s Molineux appearance was not related to any potential on-pitch involvement.

And the Blues are still ‘not sure’ when the defender will complete his return to the fray, with Ogilvie still experiencing ‘symptoms’ and ‘pain’ in his knee.

‘We’re still not sure on Connor’, Mousinho told The News in a fresh injury update.

‘We’re taking that week to week at the moment. It’s a case of symptoms settling down and pain management in the knee.’

The striker was forced off in the 73rd-minute at Fratton Park and is set to undergo a scan to determine the extent of the setback.

Midfielder Iyad Mohamed was also forced off in the 3-1 triumph, although Mousinho insisted at the game that his withdrawal was only precautionary.

Providing an update on the duo, Mousinho said in his Wednesday press conference: ‘Marko is going to have a scan tomorrow (Thursday) so we will find out more.

‘I don’t know (how long he could be out). We won’t see him this weekend and then we’ll see how that settles down. It doesn’t look great when a player pulls up like that but you never know.

‘He was okay this morning but I think the scan will tell everything. It was his quad.’

‘Exactly the same (as Marezi). I don’t think Iyad’s is anywhere near as severe as Marko’s and so we’ll see what the results are there.’

John Swift (knee), Colby Bishop (knee), Luke Brooke-Smith (ankle), Benjy Arthur (back), Mark Kosznovszky (knee) and Keshi Anderson (hamstring) all remain sidelined for Pompey.
