Police hunt for knife attacker after man, 19, stabbed in Portsmouth city centre

A TEENAGER has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in Portsmouth city centre.

Emergency services were called to Arundel Street just after 5.30pm yesterday.

Police, paramedics and even an air ambulance all attended the scene.

The victim, 19, was found with stab wounds following reports of a man being attacked with a knife.

He has been taken to hospital but his injuries are not life-threatening at this time.

Arundel Street, Yapton Street and Slindon Street were tapped off last night following the stabbing.

A police spokeswoman said: ‘Officers are investigating after a man was seriously assaulted in Portsmouth.

‘We were called just after 5.30pm yesterday, Friday 30 April, to reports of a man being attacked with a knife on Arundel Street, at the junction with Buckingham Street.

‘On arrival, a 19-year-old man from Fratton was located with a stab wound. He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, they are not considered life-threatening at this time.

‘We're appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information about the crime to contact us on 101 quoting: 44210165339.

‘We would also ask anyone with CCTV or mobile phone footage to make contact.’
