Police make two arrests after chasing vehicle from Gosport to Portsmouth

A helicopter and dogs took part in a police search in Portsmouth last night.

Witnesses reported seeing a large number of officers near Lakeside North Harbour in Western Road, Cosham on Friday evening.

Between eight to 12 police dogs were also reportedly seen in the area.

Police have now confirmed that the incident was related to a fail to stop and officers had followed a vehicle from near Gosport to Portsmouth.

Two people have been arrested in connection.

In a statement on Facebook, Fareham Police said: ‘Fareham East NHPT have been helping Fareham Response Team C in a failure to stop incident that started near Gosport and ended in Portsmouth.

‘Two persons were located after decamping. One was caught nearby and the other spotted by the Police Helicopter in some very prickly and thorny bushes.

‘The police dog was dispatched and the second suspect was arrested after a very painful exit through the bushes. The investigation continues.’
