Portsmouth 'joyriders' crash scooter on busy Eastern Road outside pub

JOYRIDERS have crashed a ‘stolen’ scooter on a busy road and fled, witnesses have said.

It happened at around 1pm in Eastern Road, outside the Good Companion pub in Portsmouth.

The aftermath was caught on video.

An onlooker said: ‘Two lads crashed into the island and ran off.

‘The bike and wheel were left spinning uncontrollably until a brave onlooker turned it off by the key.’

The man, who did not want to be named, added: ‘Police and a fire engine were on scene in a matter of minutes from a call.’

A Southsea firefighter told The News: ‘It was some joyriders that had nicked a scooter and crashed it and left it.’
