Portsmouth man, 27, in hospital with 'head and facial injuries' after assault

A MAN has been arrested after an assault that put the victim in hospital with ‘non-life threatening’ injuries.

Police were called to Buriton Street, Landport, at 10.50pm on Tuesday night to the alleged attack.

The victim, 27, was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, Hampshire police said.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested but released on bail.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said: ‘We were called shortly before 10.50pm (on Tuesday) evening to reports of an assault on Buriton Street.

‘On arrival, officers found a 27 year-old man with head and facial injuries and he was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening.

‘A 30 year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause GBH with intent.

‘He has been released on conditional bail while the investigation is ongoing.’
