Portsmouth man arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after two women touched 'inappropriately'

A MAN has been arrested after two women were touched ‘inappropriately’.

A 21-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexual assault.

It comes after police appealed for information about two incidents where two women were touched ‘inappropriately’ over their clothes.

The incidents happened on July 19 in Bishop Crispian Way, with the first taking place at around 5.55am, and the second at around 11.40pm later that night.

Separately, police in the city have also been investigating an alleged rape near Southsea Common.

The 40-year-old victim was walking near Clarence Esplanade towards the Pyramid Centre between 9.40pm and 11.30pm last Monday when a man grabbed her from behind.

She was then seriously assaulted and suffered a suspected fractured cheekbone, as well as bruising to her face, arms, legs, and back.

Police cordoned off an area of Southsea Common off Clarence Parade after the attack.

A 19-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of rape.
