Royal Navy chief petty officer died in M275 crash

A ROYAL navy officer died during a collision that saw his car hit a barrier on the M275 before careering off the flyover carriageway onto the road below.

Chief Petty Officer Keith Ross from Lee-on-the-Solent died following a collision on the M275 last week near the park and ride junction at Tipner.

A passenger in the Vauxhall Astra with Mr Ross, a 23-year-old from Derbyshire, sustained minor injuries, Hampshire police confirmed.

A police spokesman said: ‘We were called at 9.41am on Wednesday, July 15, to reports of a collision on the M275, approaching the Tipner roundabout in Portsmouth.

The M275 was closed following a fatal accident.

‘A member of the Royal Navy, Chief Petty Officer Keith Ross, 40, of Lee-on-the-Solent, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

‘Officers investigating the exact cause of the collision continue to appeal for any information, dash cam footage, or CCTV that may assist in our investigation.
