Southsea man admits to stealing jewellery and cash in burglaries

A MAN has admitted carrying out a string of burglaries in Locks Heath.

Andrew Evan Smith, 34, of Goldsmith Avenue in Southsea, pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

All four of the burglaries took place in Locks Heath between April 10 and April 11.

On the afternoon of 10 April this year, he burgled a house in St Johns Road, and stole cash and a bank card from a wallet inside.

That same afternoon, he burgled a house in Warsash Road and stole watches and jewellery.

On the afternoon of 11 April this year, he burgled a house in Alum Way and stole jewellery from inside.

Later that same afternoon, he burgled a house on Brook Lane and stole jewellery from inside.

Smith was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court on June 29.
