Teenager charged with drink-driving after hitting wall in Garden of Reflection in Fareham

A 19-YEAR-OLD from Fareham has been charged with drink-driving after veering off the road and driving into the town’s Garden of Reflection on Friday night.

Police closed Trinity Street in Fareham to deal with the crash at 10.09pm on Friday.

Eye-witnesses report three police vans in attendance, with officers having to manage a crowd of 15 people who congregated around the scene of the incident.

A spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We were called at 10.09pm on Friday, October 16, to reports of a single vehicle collision.

‘A vehicle had been in collision with a traffic island, causing damage to a light and signage, before colliding with the wall of the Gardens of Reflection.’

Shay Page, 19, of Fairfield Avenue in Fareham, was arrested and has been charged with drink-driving.

He is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on February 18.
