A member of the Type 42 Association, Mr Netherwood said: ‘The Type 42 ships were based out of Rosyth and Portsmouth which is why I had the idea to cycle down a week ahead of the Type 42 Association 2019 reunion.

‘The idea is to visit as many cities that gave their names to a Type 42 destroyer using the most direct route to Portsmouth.’

Mr Netherwood has already raised more than £1,000 – to donate, go to justgiving.com/crowdfunding/david-morris-673.
